Bigger Fish to Fly
“Bigger Fish to Fly” is a Folk/Alternative band from ICOM. The band started when Natasha Ejaz (a CAP student from Pakistan) decided to bring some of her shelved compositions to life. When asked to talked about the line-up of her band, she said “You know that feeling of walking through a park and picking flowers? Thats what it felt like to put this band together. They are perfect.”

The band includes Natasha Ejaz on vocals, Lamb Kim on drums, Kevin Leong on keys, Daniel Subah on bass, Aleif Hamdan on lead guitar and Nik Hananni on rhythm guitar. featuring SachieAmira and Eugene Yeo on Voice and Viloin. Influences include Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Sufjan Stevens, Elizabeth Fraser and Portishead.

Violinist Eugene Yeo
Eugene Yeo is a music student from The International College of Music under the Berklee Transfer Programme. As a classically-trained, contemporary violinist, he has performed extensively throughout East Malaysia and Johor, showcasing his violin prowess and fiery stage presence through playing various styles of music, ranging from classical crossover to techno-acoustic fusion. In 2009, he competed in the Kota Kinabalu International Music Festival in Sabah and won 1st place in 2 categories: one in which he performed solo and the other being a duet with friend and fellow musician, Morgan Then.

Later in that same year, he won a scholarship after competing in The Borneo Post Suzuki Violin Competition. 2010- Eugene was invited to perform for an award ceremony, for whom the guest of honor was Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud. This is only the beginning as Eugene Yeo’s musical journey is far from over. His love for music and being on stage drives him to improve himself as both a violinist and a performer.

The band Apparently came about when four friends in music college decided to get together one day and jam some funky grooves. Even though each of them come from wildly diverse musical backgrounds, they all share a common ground in their passion for grooving, soulful music.

The band’s many influences come from the variety of music they all enjoy, with each member adding their unique personality to the overall sound of the band. They are equally comfortable performing a wide range of music, from classics by Stevie Wonder and Chaka
Khan to the more modern sounds of Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, with a little bit of Beyonce, Jamie Cullum and even 80’s rock thrown in for good measure.

In a relatively short amount of time the band has already an impressive number of gigs under their belt, including a showcase at the inaugural Causeway Exchange festival in Singapore, and have backed prominent local artistes such as Najwa, Marsha (AF3) and Nabil Zamanhuri(Mentor).

Vocalist Irma Seleman is one of the most promising up-and-coming singers in the KL music scene. Very versatile, she is most comfortable belting out pop and R&B standards. Drawing influences from the Soul/R&B greats such as Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, and Stevie Wonder, she complements the band perfectly.
