When it comes to western food for breakfast, I prefer to have egg benedict. In Malaysia, you can simply have egg benedict for your breakfast. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find egg benedict that suit my taste bud. If you know any good cafe that serve egg benedict, do let me know.
Last month, I had Productions Lab 1st webseries (will release on our YouTube on 30.09.2014 9PM) short film discussion with my scriptwriter and also cast for the short film. It’s really honored for me to work together with her. Looking forward more in future. So, we decided to give Garage 51 a visit.
Usually every Sunday I will always have “Coffee & Egg Benedict Hunting” just to try out different kinds of coffee and egg benedict. I will try to blog about it since recently I seldom in Malaysia. Busy travelling for shooting.
Basically, Garage 51 is Coffee Société branch. Sound familiar? Yes, you can find Coffee Société branch in Publika. The environment of the cafe quite cozy and air conditioned but if you prefer the open air space, they also have a few tables outside the cafe. You can choose to sit on the ground floor or the 1st floor (Photo taken from 1st floor). One of the main attractions of the cafe is their decoration (check out the oil-drums-furniture).
Since we came here on Friday noon, the traffic quite bad. Not to mention you will face some parking issue. Another option, you can park at Sunway University, RM2 per entry since this cafe just located nearby with the university.
#FunFact Garage 51 names come from street number ’51’.
Since I’m really hungry, I asked for egg benedict that rich with flavor and huge portions. They suggest to me Awesome Garage Breakfast (RM22) with homemade hash potatoes, diced mushrooms, chicken ham, free-range poached egg and hollandaise. If not mistaken, this is the most expensive egg benedict that they have. You also can try salmon (RM19) as an alternative. As usual, I still couldn’t get eggs benedict that suit me. They almost had me, but I prefer them to have English Muffin instead of bread.
The mushroom, poached egg and hollandaise are just doing well, but homemade hash potatoes need improvement. Just a little bit of salt and pepper will do.
The only reason why I wanted to try out Garage 51, just simply because of their signature Mochatella (RM14.90). It’s kind of pricey for me, but worth to try. It is nutella served with coffee ice cubes and a small jug of milk.
Affogato (RM8.90) always my choice if I need some energy boost. Similar to what other cafe offer and what make it different is the coffee seed on top of the vanilla ice cream.
They do not have much choice of dessert and the only one tempting me is Creme Brulee (RM9.90). Nothing so wow about this dessert. Not for the second time.
