What can one do to release stress and let their hair down this year-end?
When it comes to December, the only thing that comes to my mind is shopping and a holiday, of course. So the first thing that popped in my mind was Singapore! My hometown and first choice holiday destination for my semester break. Where else can you find a place that is both an entertainment haven and a shopping paradise? And so close too!
Recently, a lot of Malaysia people went crazy because Uniqlo open their first outlet in Farenheit. In Singapore, I can easily find one in.
There have few things/places that I am proud to share with you guys on what Singapore has to fulfill your needs and wants for a perfect weekend getaway.
To be honest, I will go back hometown to celebrate my Christmas and I will surely be entertained as there is so much to do but so little time.
I have 12 ideas below so don’t tell me I never inform you guys okay?
“12 IDEAS FOR AN EXHILIRATING YEAR-END EXPERIENCE IN SINGAPORE”
1. Christmas Light-up
You know why I love December? It is not only my semester break but it is also the only time I can give presents to someone that I like. Oh ok, I joke only. Still don’t get what I mean? December = Christmas!
When? 20 Nov 2010-2 Jan 201
Where? 1, Orchard Road and Marina Bay
Why do a lot of people choose to celebrate Christmas at Singapore? Because Singapore celebrates Christmas with tremendous gusto and panache; you’ll find all of the above and much, much more, save of course, the snow and woolly clothes.
Shhhh…. Girls, let me tell you something… Two main shopping precincts in Orchard Road and the scenic Marina Bay area where streets and buildings will be decked out with fantastical lights and glitzy props, lending a joyous, magical feel to this starlit festive season plus great shopping deals. It is awesome right?
Pssstttt… Do not worry for those who can’t make it to Singapore on Christmas itself because Christmas celebrations start early in Singapore with the Christmas Light-Up beginning on 20 November 2010. Singapore’s iconic shopping avenue Orchard Road is renowned for its awesome street light-ups; going strong for 27 years. The street light-up theme varies every year and this year you can look forward to “A Starlit Christmas”. The 2.2-km stretch will be adorned with sparkling stars of varying hues in its three main areas – Tanglin, Orchard and Somerset. You’ll find all the usual seasonal trimmings here too, from street performers and carolers to beautifully decorated storefronts. What’s more, tourists will also get to enjoy open top bus rides to view the dazzling lights.
2. ZoukOut 2010
Have you heard what will happen on 11 Dec at Sentosa?
Let me tell you something.
It is all about to celebrate 10 years of great music, love and unforgettable memories. ZoukOut, the most eagerly anticipated event this side of the globe, get ready to have another memorable nightout on the beach as you party from dusk to dawn.

After 65 million years, they’re back roaming the arenas of the world in an extraordinary theatrical production! Watch 20 life-sized dinosaurs, including the Tyrannosaurus rex, rule the Earth again!

For the fashionsta, you’ll be thrilled to know that Valentino is having an exhibition in Singapore this year end. The exhibition is to celebrate the extraordinary talents Valentino Garavani and will feature 100 haute couture designs from the late 1950s through to the designer’s last collection in 2008.

Where? Resorts World Sentosa
5. Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2010/11
If you still have yet to decide where you want to celebrate the New Year, why not go to Marina Bay Singapore to for the New Year countdown? It will be really cool? I still remember back then when most of the weekend, after class, my classmates and I will go to Marina Bay for some nice cocktail and beautiful scenery.
When? 31 Dec 2010
Where? Marina Bay, Singapore
For those who do not know, Marina Bay quickly becoming the new downtown, there’s no better place to usher in the New Year. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Marina Bay Sands and icons like the Esplanade and The Helix, join the locals and get a taste of a good old Singapore-style party.
If you think it is just a place for you to watch some hot chicks or at least nice scenery, why not we have a good time with bunch of friends/family be entertained by musical and dance numbers by both local and international artists, then look on in awe as the extraordinary display of fireworks and pyrotechnics herald the arrival of 2011.
If you think you are party animal, show me the proof. There will be an awesome party, better than a club party, at Siloso Beach on 31 Dec. Will you be there?
Escape from the city and count down to the New Year at Asia’s Grooviest Beach Party. Expect a night of non-stop music, with 10 hours of partying and lots of fireworks across several party zones. Join in the fun!
When? 31 December 2010
Where? Resorts World Sentosa
Pssstttt… I have some interesting stuff to tell you. There will be more than one kilometre of beach that you can dance the night away. Relax at the new Chill-Out stage, dive into the signature foam pool and recharge with an array of food and drinks before hitting the sandy dance floor once more. The Main Arena is the place to be at midnight; this year’s Party boasts a big line-up of world-renowned DJs, and both local and international bands.
Backed by a colourful collection of fire-eaters, stilt-walkers and other performers, you’ll have no trouble staying awake until 2011’s first sunrise hits the shores of Siloso Beach.
7. Clarke Quay New Year’s Eve Countdown Party 2010
If Kuala Lumpur has Changkat Bukit Bintang, in Singapore we have Clarke Quay. Only difference is, Clark Quay is located along the river side. If you love to dine on western food and enjoy drinks with your friends while enjoying the tranquil riverside, this is one place you would not want to miss it.
When? 31 December 2010
Where? Central Square, Clarke Quay
*excited face* Home to some of Singapore’s hottest night spots, Clarke Quay offers all kind of ways to welcome in the New Year. Following up on last year’s circus spectacular theme, the whole of Clarke Quay will be transformed into a party zone with a new and exciting theme. Hopping between the establishments at Clarke Quay is like going on a whirlwind world tour. You can soak in the chilled-out Moroccan ambience at Marrakesh, groove to the Latin rhythms at Cuba Libre and Azzucar! and tell a tall tale or two at Mulligan’s Irish Pub. www.clarkequay.com.sg
If you are bored with salsa, breakdance and normal dance, why not try some tap dancing at Singapore’s gleaming new Sands Theater at the Marina Bay Sands, the original international phenomenon RIVERDANCE is returning to Singapore and for 16 performances only!
YES! Let’s me highlight one more time.
16 performances only!
When? 30 November to 12 December 2010
Where? Marina Bay Sands
For those who do not know what it is all about, RIVERDANCE features 31 performers including the remarkable Riverdance Irish Troupe, the cream of Irish musicians, and an impressive array of talents from around the globe, all performing to composer Bill Whelan’s enchanting Grammy Award-winning music and lyrics.
9. Shopping at Orchard Road
Need an explanation about it? Just ask anybody who is a shopping freak and they will tell you that Orchard Road is the best shopping spot in Singapore. For those who do not know, a brand new retail experience awaits you at the ION Orchard, with more than 600,000 square feet of shopping space spanning over eight floors. The ground level houses luxury brands such as Prada, Ermenegildo Zegna and Louis Vuitton, while the basement levels are endlessly packed with shoppers from all walks of life – from students and nine-to-five workers, all drawn by the wide variety of high street brands such as Topshop, Fred Perry and Armani Exchange.

11. Sands SkyPark
Let me tell you something, the Sands SkyPark is an awe-inspiring engineering wonder. Why I say so? This unique structural masterpiece, designed by visionary architect Moshe Safdie, floats atop the three soaring Marina Bay Sands hotel towers 200m in the sky. Stretching longer than the Eiffel tower laid down or four and a half A380 Jumbo Jets, with an impressive 12,400 square meters of space, the Sands SkyPark can host up to 3,900 people.
*inception movie in my mind* The gravity-defying cantilever is one of the largest of its kind in the world. From this privileged observation deck, hundreds of visitors at a time can feast their eyes on the unforgettable panorama view. With the Sands SkyPark pool and Observation Deck open, take in the astounding features!
Let me highlight one more time: Designed by visionary architect Moshe Safdie. Floats atop the three soaring Marina Bay Sands hotel towers 200m in the sky. Stretching longer than the Eiffel tower laid down or four and a half A380 Jumbo Jets.
12. Universal Studios Singapore
Last but not least, UNIVERSAL STUDIOS SINGAPORE! I went there 2 times before and what I can tell you is, I WANT GO AGAIN!
Yes, I still remember the 1st day I went to the theme park, it was during their opening, and I only paid $20 for a tour. If you want experience blockbuster adventures like never before this is the answer for it.

In the meantime, those who plan to go to Singapore this year-end, do let me know. I will be there in December since it is a semester break & time for me to have a holiday with my family.
One of the big event of the month that I look forward to attend is The Star Property Fair 2012. I never had a dream to own a studio/office. I still remember how I start up with a small capital & persuade my dream. I just signed additional 2 years contract with the current landlord for Creative Visual Studio & CVS Production studio/office and I need a new studio/office. Since currently my studio/office is just a rental lot, I’m looking forward to buy my own properties. I’m looking more into a homey type of studio/office that can accommodate my staff & client… and party too *thinking of swimming pool* 😉
There have a lot of exhibitor who will be there. Personally, I more looking forward what Sunway Integrated Properties, Glenmarie Properties, Tropicana Golf & Country Resort Berhad, SP Setia & Danga Bay will offer to me. Check out the exhibitors’ details, HERE!
